Our Story

I believe in fairy tales. I always wanted to find the prince that would swoop up on his white horse and rescue me. I have had two failed marriages, one was filled with cheating and lies while the other was filled with years of abuse and neglect. I had given up on finding my prince and my happy ending. I have 3 beautiful daughters and I was content, but not happy. It's amazing how one phone call can change your life.

I lived next door to a woman for 3 years. I came to know her very well and I liked and respected her. Her children were grown and she lived alone. I would take my children outside to play and they always called Bonnie grandma. Bonnie and I would sit on her front porch for hours talking. Bonnie has a daughter, whom I became friends with. I also knew she had 3 sons, and one of them was serving a long prison sentence. One warm April afternoon, a few days after my youngest had turned 3, Bonnie and I were sitting on her porch and the kids were playing outside her phone rang. It was her son Kevin. Bonnie had talked to Kevin for a few minutes and she told me that he asked to speak to me. I was a little shocked because I knew Bonnie's daughter and her other 2 sons, but I had never really heard her talk about Kevin much. I did agree to talk to him and that was the phone call that changed my life.

Kevin and I talked for half an hour. I felt at ease with him and found him to be someone who was very easy to talk to. I also loved his sense of humor. Before saying goodbye he asked if I would write to him. I agreed and that evening I wrote him a letter. I did not know that his mom had been telling Kevin about me for the past few months. I found out later on that he had told his mom the day after we spoke that "I was going to be his wife someday".

He called his mom's house every night for the next two weeks asking to talk to me, and I did. We officially became a couple in May 2011, although I had never actually met him.
